Club Announcements |
It is with great sadness that we wish to inform you that Simon Offen, a longstanding Bursar of Vincent's Club and an invaluable member of our management team, succumbed peacefully in his fight against illness on Friday, February 3rd.
An integral part of the successful V150 Campaign, Simon, a keen field hockey player who studied at Christ Church after his undergraduate studies at Cambridge, joined Vincent's in 1986.
After a period teaching he joined Christ Church as Deputy Development Director and Christ Church Association Vice President and was Vincent's Bursar for 11 years where he was highly regarded by student members and alumni for his professionalism, warmth and obvious passion for the Club.
His resilience and battle against illness were indicative of Simon's character and he has helped leave the Club richer and in the best condition of its 160 year history.
We shall consider his legacy to be our continued efforts to further develop the work of the V150, its financial support of the Club, outreach programmes, scholar-athlete awards and providing student members and alumni with a welcoming premises underpinned by the unique Vincent's Club ethos.
I join Melville Guest OBE, my predecessor as Chairman of the VATC, in expressing the Club's great thanks to Simon and our thoughts and condolences to his parents, family and friends.
Sincerely,
Ian Ritchie
Chairman
