On 18th May 2024, the inaugural Vincent’s Club Celebrating Women in Sport Dinner at St Hilda’s College was brought to life last week.

In the spectacular St Hilda’s riverside setting, current resident members and honorary members, friends and allies, joined to celebrate the remarkable women’s sporting community at Oxford University past and present.

Honorary Member, and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, Professor Irene Tracey CBE, FMedSci, giving a powerful speech on the role and importance of sport in Oxford University and the surrounding community.

Vicky Griffiths, Chairperson of the VATC, commented,

"The evening was such a buzzing and special celebration of women’s sport at Oxford (and beyond).

We had two Olympic gold medalists in attendance!

The highlight of the evening was Vice Chancellor Professor Irene Tracey’s speech, in which she spoke so passionately about the importance of sport at Oxford, and how compelling the data is in showing the positive correlation between high level sport and strong academic performance."

Thank you to all those who attended and we hope to see you and many more next year.
